Valentine’s Day Giveaway Bash: Win an Assortment of Chocolates from Sarris Candies (ends 2/8)

sarris chocolateWell, it wouldn’t be a Valentine’s Day Bash if I didn’t share some of my favorite chocolates. When I think of Valentine’s Day, I always think of Sarris chocolate. My dad would go to their factory every year to pick up a selection of confections for us girls. Mmmm, so yummy.

This year, I decided to step outside my comfort zone to try a few of their newer products. I can safely say that I have a new favorite (next to the chocolate covered pretzels and peanut butter meltaways). This new fave is their microwaveable hard cap / fondue. It’s so simple to eat too. Just stick the container in the microwave for about 30 – 60 seconds and you’re good to go. I enjoyed dipping marshmallows (and my finger) in the fondue, but you can also use it as a hard cap on ice cream and other cold treats.

Sarris also sent me some block chocolate to experiment with in baking, but, um…well, we sort of just ate it. It’s not my fault, really! I was looking for recipes to experiment with and just couldn’t find the perfect one. In the mean time, that chocolate kept calling to us. Next time, I swear I’ll try some recipes and tell you all how it goes. In fact, you can help me pick which one to try. For now, though, let’s give some away.

Win It

One Average Parent reader will win a chocolate prize package valued at more than $50. The prize package will include a 12oz package of Sarris’ signature hand-made chocolate-covered pretzels, an 8oz box of assorted chocolates, Sarris’ new chocolate fondue and ice cream topping in milk chocolate, and a 16oz canister of Dutch Processed Cocoa Powder perfect for hot chocolate or baking.

To win, you must visit the recipe section of the Sarris website and let me know what recipe sounds the most appealing.

Weekly Tip

“Oh, The Places You’ll Go” End of School-Year Tradition

It’s not too much longer till the school year comes to a close, so I wanted to share this amazing idea I found on…you guessed it…Pinterest. You all know the book Oh, The Places You’ll Go from Dr. Seuss. It’s a great graduation gift. But, Lisa from Lisa’s Workshop suggests grabbing a copy when your kid is young. At the end of each school year, give it to your child’s teacher to sign or write a note. When you’re child graduates (hard to think of!), you’ll have a lovely gift to give him/her. Lisa has even included some lovely tags in her blog post, so make sure to go check it out.
