How to Use Coupons to Save Big on Groceries
Tuesday, April 12, 2011
While I’ve always been good at spotting a deal, there once was a time when the idea of using grocery coupons was too overwhelming for me. On occasion I would try clipping coupons only to forget them at home. So I gave up…it was just too much of a hassle for me to bother. The downside was that I was spending more than $200 a week on groceries and had very little to show for it. But as I started following other frugal bloggers, I began seeing the benefits to couponing and knew I had to take another look at it. They made it look so easy and I was jealous of all the great deals I saw them posting.
I’m happy to report that after couponing for about three months, I’ve cut my bill by almost half, and I’m bringing home twice as much as I did before. And, it turns out that couponing really isn’t that difficult…as long as you get organized and stay focused. If you’re thinking of how you can put coupons to use, below are some tips and resources that have helped me along the way. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a comment and I’ll be happy to find the answer for you!

[...] As you know, I’m new to the grocery couponing scene…but let me tell you, I am hooked. Every week I get such a rush when I see the amount I save on my bill. By paying closer attention to item prices, clipping coupons and pairing coupons with sales, I’ve cut my bill in half, while bringing home about 50% more in groceries. When it’s all said and done, I will save about $2,500 a year, with very little time investment. I spend about 2 hours a week preparing and 2 hours a week shopping. (I don’t mind the 2 hours it takes to shop because that’s when hubby has the kids and I can take my sweet time all by myself…it’s possible that I drag it out longer than I need to, but don’t tell him!) Check out my post to learn how you can EASILY make coupons work for you. [...]
