popcornI absolutely love going to the movies, but I just can’t justify spending $7 or more…especially when hubby and I go together. That’s why I’m always searching for ways to save at the movies. Some easy ways to save include purchasing an Entertainment book, which is full of great coupons, including money savers for local theaters. I also like to hit up CardPool.com for discounted gift cards and tickets. Here are few more ideas you might find useful:

Entertainment Book

The Entertainment Book is full of all kinds of great coupons, including ones for local movie theaters. Plus, if you buy your Entertainment book online, you save as much as 50% off the list price. Make sure to double check your movie coupons because some are good to use at the box office and others are for mail orders only.

CardPool

CardPool.com is my go-to site for discounted gift cards. You can save anywhere from 9-20% on their movie cards and use them toward tickets and concessions.

Regal Theaters

You can take advantage of Regal Value Days to score discounted tickets at your local theater. Each theater is different, so check yours to see what the details are. Or, if you’re a Regal Crown Club member, each time a movie ticket is purchased you earn rewards such as free movie tickets, popcorn, soft drinks and more. Super Saver Tickets can also be purchased in bulk for a discount.

Regal’s Summer Movie Express offers $1 admission to selected G or PG movies start at 10:00am every Tuesday and Wednesday during the festival. Tickets and seating are first-come, first-served, are limited to theatre capacity and are exclusively available at select theatres’ box office on the day of the show. Check the site to find a participating theater.

Cinemark Theaters

Sign up for their weekly email and get concessions coupons sent straight to your inbox. You can also check their website for currect deals. Right now they’re offering Military and Student discounts, Senior Day on Mondays; Reel Family Time on Mondays, which grants admission for 75 cents on parties of 3 or more; Discount Tuesday; Early Bird discounts. Each program is valid at participating locations…some are available at more theaters than others…so make sure to check the site before you head out.

Cinemark also offers a Summer Movie Clubhouse program, which show movies for just $1, or 10 shoes for $5. These movies aren’t new releases, but it’s still fun to head to the theater.

Carmike Cinemas

Carmike offers a variety of deals including Super Stimulus Tuesdays, where you can get discounts at the concession stand. Just follow them on facebook for updates on deals. You can also join their rewards program to earn points redeemable for free movie tickets and popcorn.

Carmike’s Summer Kid’s Series gives you admission to some of your favorite blockbuster films from the past for only a buck.

AMC Theaters

AMC Theaters has discontinued many of their incentive programs. They’ve ended their popular Movie Watcher program in favor of their new Stubs program. For a $12 yearly membership fee, you get free concession upgrades and can earn points to put toward free movie tickets. This is not a program I’d recommend, as you’d have to see a ton of movies just to earn back your $12 membership fee.

They’ve also eliminated half price tickets during the week for the general public, but seniors can get discounted tickets on Tuesdays, students can get discounted tickets on Thursdays, and if you’re anearly riser, you can score discounted tickets before noon on weekdays. Make sure to visit their site for a complete and updated list of promotions.

AMC has also discontinued its yearly Summer Movie Camp.

Fandango

You can get 20% off $25 in movie tickets when you use your Visa Signature card, plus they are frequently hosting BOGO deals in conjunction with other marketing programs and daily deal sites. Make sure to follow Fandango on facebook and sign up for their newsletter to stay in the loop.

Gofobo and Film Metro

Gofobo and Film Metro are great opportunities to get free passes to advanced movie screenings. It’s totally free to sign up and they’ll send you an email notification when tickets are available in your area. If you have more than two people looking for passes, it might be a good idea to set up multiple accounts.

Something to note: Only the first 100 people will be admitted with the pass. It’s first come, first served and you might not get a seat even if you have a pass. I recommend getting there an hour before the show starts.
